Zurich is a vibrant city with many attractions and is a fantastic hire car holiday destination.

Zurich Overview

It's the perfect city for culture lovers, as it has more than 50 museums and galleries including the Swiss National Museum, the Zurich Toy Museum, the Zurich Museum of Design and the Cabaret Voltaire art gallery.

Zurich's architectural highlights include the twin-spired Grossmünster, which dates back to the 12th century, the 19th century Zurich Opera House and the Fraumünster Church, which features some stunning stained glass windows by Marc Chagall.

Other attractions worth visiting while you are in Zurich include the Botanical Gardens of the University of Zurich, the Masoala Rainforest Exhibition and Zurich Zoo.

Zurich is also a great place to go shopping and Bahnhofstrasse offers a particularly good range of stores. Evenings in the city are lively with many bars, clubs, pavement cafes and great restaurants to choose from, many of which can be found on Niederdorfstrasse.

Although there is plenty to see and do in Zurich, if you hire a car during your holiday, you can explore the surrounding area as well. You can use your Zurich hire car to visit the town of Einsiedeln, with its Benedictine Monastery, or the picturesque village of Weggis on the banks of Lake Lucerne. If you love winter sports, you can drive from Zurich to the famous ski resort of Klösters in less than two hours in your hire car.
