Seville is a picturesque, romantic and vibrant city which offers something for everyone. Situated within the Andalusian region of Spain, Seville is surrounded by some beautiful and historical towns and cities and the nearby coastline is stunning.

Seville Overview

Seville is renowned for its architecture, including the magnificent 15th century Cathedral, which is the focal point of the city. You should also visit the nearby Plaza del Trufino and the Alcazar, the city's old Moorish Palace, while in Seville.

Seville, which is credited by some as the inventor of tapas, has many excellent tapas bars just waiting to be discovered. You can also visit the Plaza de Toros Bullring for some classic Spanish entertainment, and the 13th century Torre del Oro (Tower of Gold), which has served as a military watchtower and a prison, and which is now a naval museum.

The Easter Holy Week (Semana Santa) and the Seville Fair (La Feriade Seville) are the two largest festivals in Seville. During the Seville Fair, which takes place a fortnight after Semana Santa, the women dress in flamboyant flamenco attire and the men wear their "traje de corto", the traditional dress of short jacket, tight trousers and boots. Both festivals are famous for their colour and vibrancy.

Although there's plenty to do in Seville itself, to fully appreciate this area of Spain you'll need to hire a car. Driving in Seville can be difficult due to traffic congestion, but there are several car parks in and around the city centre where you can park your hire car while you explore.

Getting to Seville and Seville Car Hire

Seville is served by the San Pablo International Airport, which is located about 10km north west of the city. You can hire a car at the airport.

However, if want to explore more of Spain, you can fly to one of Spain's other airports such as Jerez de la Frontera or Malaga, or to another major destination such as Madrid, Valencia, or Faro, hire a car there and drive to Seville.
