By-Car Hire Guide To MadridMadrid is the capital of Spain and is known for its rich variety of architecture, its shops and sports. The sheer number of galleries and museums in Madrid is incredible and the city's exciting and vibrant nightlife is some of the best that Europe has to offer. However, if you're visiting Madrid, it's worth hiring a car so that you can explore everything else that the region has to offer. Madrid's most famous landmarks include the grand Royal Palace of Madrid (Palacio Real) which is a former residence of the King of Spain, the Egyptian Temple of Debod near Parque del Oeste, and the Teatro Real (Royal Theatre). If you're an art-lover, don't miss the Museo del Prado, featuring one of the finest collections of art from the 12th-19th century and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, which specialises in modern art. If sport is your love, Madrid's bullfighting ring is the largest in Spain and for the cream of world football, a visit to the Santiago Bernabéu to see Real Madrid is a must. For family fun, visit Madrid's Parque de Atracciones amusement park, which is set in the Casa de Campo Park and is open all year round. This theme park is open late during the summer and is split into five zones, each offering a different theme and selection of rides. Classical music lovers can catch a concert at the Auditorio Nacional de Musica, which is home to the Spanish National Orchestra and the Choir of Spain. There are also regular performances at the Teatro Monumental and at the city's main opera house, the Teatro Theatre Real. You can dance the night away at one of many flamenco bars dotted throughout the capital. Although there's plenty to do in Madrid itself, to fully appreciate all that this area of Spain has to offer you'll need to hire a car. Driving in Madrid itself can be difficult due to traffic congestion and lack of parking spaces, but there are a number of car parks in the city centre where you can park your hire car while you explore Madrid. However, by hiring a car in Madrid, you can enjoy the area's rich tapestry of cultural and architectural diversity. You can take day-trips in your Madrid hire car to some of the Spain's World Heritage Sites, some of which are only a short drive from the capital. If you hire a car in Madrid, you can also break up your holiday by spending a few days in another location, such as Seville, Barcelona or the beautiful city of Mérida.
