By-Car Guide To South Africa

The best way to explore South Africa is by hire car. If you hire a car, you?ll be able to explore more of this beautiful country and really make the most out of your time there.

Car Hire in South Africa - Benefits

South Africa is a vast country and public transport is limited, so to experience it fully, you really need to hire a car.

Hiring a car will allow you to base yourself in one of South Africa's cities, such as Cape Town or Johannesburg, and drive to attractions outside of them, as well as experiencing everything that your chosen city has to offer.

The freedom that hiring a car brings means you can visit World Heritage Sites, cultural attractions, beaches, bustling cities and nature reserves all on one holiday, and gain a real taste of the country.

Car Hire in South Africa - Holiday Hotspots

To make the most of your time in South Africa and to see as many places of interest that you can, decide what you would like from your holiday experience.

Most of us only take one big holiday a year so we like to make the most of it. This is where hiring a car comes in handy. If you enjoy exploring big cities, you can use Cape Town or Johannesburg as a base, and then spend a few days in another location.

If you base yourself in Cape Town, you can shop until you drop at the V & A Waterfront and visit the historic Robben Island before taking a trip to the top of Table Mountain. However, you can also use your hire car to visit the stunningly wild Cape Peninsula or drive to Boulders Beach, where you can swim with penguins.

South Africa is also famous for its national parks, where you can enjoy the trip of a lifetime to spot the "big five" on a safari. One of the best places to do this is Kruger National Park, and if you hire a car in Johannesburg, you can drive to the park and stay there for a few days to experience South African wildlife at its best. For adult entertainment and gambling, you can drive to Sun City, which is easy to reach from Johannesburg.

Hiring a car is simple, and you can book your hire car before you fly so that it's ready for you when you land. This way you can avoid having to rely on public transport and go wherever you want to, whenever you want to.

To help you plan your trip to South Africa, we have produced guides to some of the country's most popular destinations, together with details of some of the attractions that you can visit when you hire a car. Click on the links for more information:
