By-Car Hire Guide To St TropezSt. Tropez is a classy seaside resort on the French Riviera, where luxury yachts line up in the clear blue waters of the Bay of Saint-Tropez, facing the terrace of cafes. St. Tropez became famous across the world in the 1950s, when it was used as the setting for "And God Created Woman" (1956), starring Brigitte Bardot, and has remained a popular destination with the rich and famous ever since. The beaches along the Baie de Pampelonne, south of St. Tropez, are some of the finest in the area and you can relax on the golden sand, take part in water sports like windsurfing, sailing, canoeing and jet-skiing, or even hire a powerboat. If that's too energetic for you, you can take a stroll through St. Tropez's medieval streets or soak up the atmosphere in one of the waterfront cafes. You can also visit one of the town's museums, such as the Musée de l'Annociade, housed in the 16th century Chapelle Notre-Dame de l'Annonciade, which contains a collection of works by artists including Matisse, Seurat and Signac. In the evening, you can try one of St. Tropez's many restaurants and then dance the night away at one of its glitzy clubs. St. Tropez can be extremely busy in the summer, so you might want to consider visiting the town off-season. Whenever you visit St. Tropez, however, it's still worth hiring a car, as you really need to drive in order to fully appreciate what the area has to offer. If you hire a car in St. Tropez, you can visit places like Grasse, the perfume capital of the world, or the Roman remains at Arles. You can even break up your holiday by driving across the border in your St. Tropez hire car and spending a few days in the Italian city of Turin. By hiring a car during your St. Tropez holiday, you'll have the freedom to explore the region without being tied to public transport timetables. You can find out more about some of the attractions in the St. Tropez area that you can visit if you hire a car here:
