By-Car Hire Gide To Nice

Located in the south of France on the French Riviera, Nice boasts sophisticated café terraces, fantastic restaurants and several miles of palm tree-lined promenade along the seafront.

Nice Overview

You can take a stroll through the narrow streets of Old Town district, and see some interesting old buildings such as the 19th century L'Opera, and the Baroque Chapelle de la Miséricorde with its frescoes, chandeliers and fantastic Bréa altarpiece. The 17th-century Baroque Cathédrale de Ste-Réparate in Place Rossetti features an 18th century bell tower and glossy tiled dome, and the Palais Lascaris contains a host of 17th and 18th century furniture and paintings.

If you're interested in art, you may want to visit the Musée des Beaux-Arts, which has the original plaster cast of Rodin's Le Baiser (The Kiss). You can also take a trip to the Musée d'Art Moderne et d'Art Contemporain (MAMAC), which features pieces from the École de Nice (Nice School) including works by Arman, César and Klein. Don't miss the Matisse Museum, which has hundreds of the artist's paintings, sketches and engravings on display.

Nice has a vibrant nightlife, and you'll find plenty of bars, late night cafes, restaurants and nightclubs to choose from. Opera lovers will appreciate the Opéra de Nice in the west of the city.

Although there's lots to do in Nice, if you hire a car you can explore the area and visit nearby locations such as the principality of Monaco and Cezanne's birthplace, Aix en Provence.
